Programs: Kid's Net

In our rural community many services exist to support families, but the system for referral into these services has been fragmented. Kid's Net is a collaborative effort, developed in response to growing concern that families were not getting connected to the services they needed. Representatives from Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Public Health, Birth to 3, Children with Special Health Care Needs and Community Link joined forces to develop Kid's Net, a "safety net" for families.

When a baby is born, the Kid's Net Coordinator will visit the new parents at the hospital to provide them with information about community services and assist with referrals. Families will also receive a check-in call at regular intervals following discharge to make sure the family has access to all the resources they need to enhance the life of their family.
